Surviving A COVID-19 Summer With Kids

Like everything else, summer looks different this year due to COVID-19. Maybe your vacation is postponed or summer camp is cancelled and you’re looking for ways to keep your kids entertained. It’s a hefty order even during a normal summer, but so much more this year. As always, Launch has you covered with a few ideas on surviving a COVID-19 summer with kids.

1.) Take It Outside

Whether it’s a puzzle, story time, or watching Netflix, take it outside! Switch up your background & enjoy an inside activity outside.

2.) Scavenger Hunt

Create a scavenger hunt by placing items throughout the home & yard for kids to find. Parade has a great list of ideas.

3.) Indoor Camping Trip

Set up your tent or make a blanket fort! String some twinkle lights throughout the living room & pop in a movie. Don’t forget about the s’mores & popcorn. This is a fun one for the whole family to enjoy. Check out more of our ways to enjoy an easy activity with the family.

4.) Taste Test

Create a kid-friendly charcuterie board! Use a muffin tin to separate your favorite & new snacks. Get inspired by checking out our Pinterest board featuring different snack ideas.

5.) Virtual Tours

You can visit virtually anywhere now! Take advantage of all the cool places you can see with a virtual tour this summer. Some of our favorites are NASA & Universal Studios.

6.) Explore Science

Try a pre-made science experiment kit or make your own experiment with a few household items. Find your next experiment on Science Fun or Science Bob.

7.) Group Game Video Chat

If you have older kids like tweens or teens this can be a great connection activity. They get to spend time with friends & play a game while social distancing. You can try Scattergories, Charades, or something simple like Tic, Tac, Toe.

8.) Drive Thru Ice Cream

Head to your favorite local ice cream spot for a sweet treat! It’s a fun way to get out & support local businesses. As Floridians, we know there are no shortages of amazing local ice cream spots.

We hope these ideas help you with surviving a COVID-19 summer with kids.
