9 Frugal Family & Date Night Ideas!

2020 is in full swing and so are New Year’s Resolutions! For many people, saving money and spending more time with family & friends are on that list. Research says one of the top five New Year’s Resolutions is saving money and also one of the most commonly failed.  Here at Launch, we’re always thinking of ways to save our members money which is why we’ve outlined a few frugal family & date night ideas to keep you on track with your financial resolutions.

Go Fishing

We can go fishing year-round  in sunny and warm Florida so take advantage of it! A fishing license is inexpensive and easy to obtain. This is a simple way to connect with family or friends and soak up sunshine at the same time. If you’re stumped on where to go then check out this list of places.

Watch a Launch

Serve Your Community

Help your community by serving at a soup kitchen, animal shelter, or beach cleanup. This isn’t only a bonding activity, but a way to give back to the community you live in without spending money. Play Board Games

Dust off those childhood games and teach your kids or partner how to WIN the good ole fashioned way. This is a great way to spend a “technology free night.”

There are always events going on and sometimes they’re free! From craft fairs, to Turtle Talks, and restaurant Trivia Night; free events are all around us. Take advantage of one!  Brevard County, check out Visit Space Coast for a calendar of events and Volusia County, check out Volusia.com.

Make Your Own Cooking Class

Find a recipe, buy the ingredients, and set up a cooking studio in your kitchen. Create dinner together with your significant other and/or children. Be sure to pick a recipe neither of you have made before. Cooking Light has some great family friendly recipes to try together.

Watch a Movie and Taste Test

Rent a movie from Redbox or pick a few on a streaming service. You can also borrow movies from your local public library. For your taste test, choose an easy food everyone likes and buy different brands. For example, buy different brands or toppings of pizza to try and vote on the best one at the end of the night. Backyard Campout

Set up the tents and start the fire! This is a fun one for kids and can also be a break for the parents. Bring out your pillows, blankets, and chairs for a night under the stars where you can roast marshmallows and tell stories.

Start A Potluck Meal

Invite your friends over for a group meal where each person brings a different dish. This is a cheaper version of meeting at a restaurant to catch up. Taste of Home has a huge list of potluck ideas.
